Beginning, Differently
What if you begin,
with remembering?
When you awake in the morning, in bed with eyes closed, remembering:
The remarkable milestones of your life
The love you have received from friends and family, children and pets, nature and God
The love you have given friends and family, children and pets, nature and God
How you have soulfully served others, willed the good of the other
How others have recognized and celebrated you - your birthdays, gifts, praise
How you have recognized and celebrated others - privately, publicly, connecting them with others
The many things you have survived - accidents, illness, loss
The many things you have been saved from - even unbeknownst to you
The many things absent from your life - violence, poverty, hunger
The Divine blessings benevolently bestowed upon you - your amazing natural talents, your beautiful and capable physical body, where you were born, the family you were born into, your endless creativity, and on and on
Imagine awakening, remembering.
Like, awaking to your favorite song, beloved poem.
If you begin each day remembering your abundant blessings, give thanks, and pray:
How would your gratitude, your capacity for love expand?
What clarity, Divine illumination would arrive for you?
How differently would you see, perceive the invisible?
How differently would you hear, listen to the silence?
How invigorated, alive would you feel?
How would you place your feet on this Heavenly Earth?

If you begin each day remembering, expressing gratitude,
what would you radiate toward each thing, each fellow creature, you encounter?
