Prayer II

Thank you, God.

Thank you, for being you,
Thank you, for your beauty,

Thank you, for creating what you have created,
Thank you, for allowing us to be a part of your creation,

Thank you, for your abundance, your generosity,
Thank you, for your benevolence, your blessings bestowed upon us,

Thank you, for your guidance, your gentleness, your grace,
Thank you, for your presence, your signs, your silence,

Thank you, God, for your mercy,
Thank you, God, for your kindness and compassion,

Thank you, God, for your patience,
Thank you, God, for your forgiveness,

Thank you, God, for saving us,
Again and again, and again and again,

Selah.

Thank you, God, for the blue sky, for the clouds,

For the night sky, and the stars,
For the planets, and the solar system,

For the Milky Way, and the galaxies,
For the universe,

Thank you, God, for the Moon,
Thank you, God, for the Sun. Oh, the Sun,

Thank you, God, for the trees that offer us shade, sanctuary, refuge, a home,
That give us oxygen, that we may breathe,
Air, that we may feel you in the wind,

Thank you, God, for the grass, the dirt, the sand,
For the flowers, and the bees,
For the moth, and the butterflies,
For the snail, the spider, the worm, and the caterpillar,

Thank you, God, for the birds that fill our space with song,
For the hummingbird, and the mockingbird,
For the bluejay, and the cardinal,
For the woodpecker, the parrots, and the finches,
For the foxes, and the raccoons,

Thank you, God, for the ocean, and the seas,
For the creatures we see, and have yet to see,

Thank you, God, for the fruits, and the vegetables,
For the herbs, and the mountains,

Thank you God, for water,
That quenches, cleanses, brings us life,

Thank you, God.

Selah.

Selah is an ancient Hebrew word. It means to pause, reflect, listen. It appears seventy-one times in the Book of Psalms.
